What the BNB Machine Owner Can and Can Never Do
The BNB Machine owner can't touch balances, pick winners, change the splits or block withdrawals. Allowed changes wait 48 hours. Here's the full list.
Every smart contract has an owner, the wallet that deployed it. What matters is what that owner is allowed to do. In BNB Machine, the owner's powers are small, limited by the code, and the important ones wait 48 hours after a public announcement on the blockchain.

What the owner can do, with limits
| Power | Limit |
|---|---|
| Launch the contract | Once |
| Pause new entries | At most 7 days, then a 7-day cooldown before pausing again. Withdrawals keep working. |
| Change pool settings | For future rounds only, after a public 48-hour notice; a ticket price can at most double per change |
| Change the creator wallet | After a public 48-hour notice |
| Change Chainlink settings (price feed, VRF) | After a public 48-hour notice |
| Transfer or give up ownership | Two-step transfer |
What the owner can never do
- Touch or move any member's balance.
- Choose or change a winner.
- Change the $20 split, the 80/20 ticket split or the 2% per level.
- Add accounts or balances by hand.
- Block withdrawals.
- Upgrade or replace the code.
These aren't policies. The functions simply don't exist in the contract, so nobody can call them.
How the 48-hour rule works
When the owner proposes a change, the contract records it with an "earliest time" 48 hours later and emits a public event (for example PoolChangeProposed or CreatorChangeProposed). The change can only be applied after that time. Anyone watching BscScan or the official channels sees it coming two days ahead.
Why some powers exist at all
- Pausing protects members if something outside the contract goes wrong (for example a Chainlink outage); it's capped at 7 days and never stops withdrawals.
- Pool changes let the community adjust ticket prices as the BNB price moves, with notice and only for future rounds.
- Chainlink settings may need updating if Chainlink changes its infrastructure.
